Frequently asked questions
Why do the character counts differ?
An emoji like 👍🏽 is one character to a reader, but two code points and four UTF-16 units. Each count is shown separately.
How do I find hidden characters?
The breakdown lists every character with its code point, so zero-width spaces and look-alike letters stand out.
Is what I paste sent anywhere?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser and never sends what you type or paste to a server.
Is it free?
Yes. It's free, with no sign-up and no limits.
